Please tell us how did you end up in such an offbeat, unconventional and interesting career?
“I came to César Ritz Colleges in 1992, passionate about joining the hotel industry but quite clueless beyond that. César Ritz Colleges grounded me and exposed me scientifically to the world of hotels. It taught me the technics of Hotel Management, exposed me to a focused, professional and precise way of doing things. When I graduated I had the tools, the education and the passion. From then till now, it’s been a long and lovely flight and may it last even longer.”
What do you do?
Driven by passion, Jay constantly aims for the highest in Guest satisfaction, which he bases on a devoted team of employees. Jay cares a lot for the engagement of his employees as they greatly assist him in achieving his goals. With a dedicated and professional team in place, he can concentrate on his role as Vice President and GM of three Oberoi Hotels where his responsibilities include profitability and asset maintenance and the management of public relations with media and society.
Tell us about your experience at Cesar Ritz, Switzerland
Jay has fond memories of his time at César Ritz Colleges, and recalls that: “Winning the best Banquet and receiving the César Ritz Colleges award on the same day was certainly the best memory, but as far as the fun memories are concerned, there are plenty.”
What was your career path?
“César Ritz Colleges opened the right doors. To begin with, I joined Hyatt International straight after college in 1996. César Ritz Colleges gave me the tools and showed me the path, on which the Swiss precision helped tremendously. I followed it ever since and have been successful.”
On a final note it should be mentioned that Jay Rathore was ranked the General Manager of the year 2011 in India and awarded The HT City Crystal Award for 2011.
